Terms of Reference

The South West Flexible Working Group (SWFWG) is a sub group of the Home Based and Remote Workers Forum.

Membership of SWFWG is open to all government and local government organisations in the South West region.

The role of SWFWG is to develop a network to discuss and share best practice and common concerns between organisations undertaking flexible approaches to working

SWFWG will be concerned with all aspects of flexible working including HR, Health and Safety, Property, Mobile/Remote Working, Homeworking, Standards and ICT.

The Group will ensure that flexible working has a high profile in the Region.

The group will explore the risks and opportunities to develop and share ICT, thus allowing joint working initiatives to achieve optional outcomes for individual organisations and for both levels of government as a whole.

The group will embrace the principle of joined-up government and will focus on the needs of the customer community to offer optimum service delivery and performance.

The group will act as a link and facilitating mechanism between the flexible working practices of South West government organisations and the work of other appropriate organisations and projects (e.g. SWeGG, Project NOMAD).

The group's work will assist member organisations to deploy resources in a systematic and effective way, thus contributing to an efficient, transparent and accountable public sector in the South West.

The group will provide effective feedback on its activities through minutes of meetings to its members and by the circulation of minutes to (and representation as appropriate at meetings from) organisations and groups such as SWRDA, SWLGA and SWeGG.

Guest speakers prom the private sector may attend Group meetings but this must be by invitation only and on the proviso that they do not deviate from the agreed specific purpose for them attending the Group meeting.
