Five key messages about the South West RDA...
Our goal is to improve the economy of South West England
We do this by helping the region become more productive and competitive. A successful economy will also deliver social and environmental benefits.
We focus on projects that match regional objectives
With limited funds, it is vital that we work with others to meet the real strategic aims of the region. Projects that are part of a wider strategy deliver more value. All our work is guided by the Regional Economic Strategy 2006-2015.
The work we do should create the conditions for lasting economic success
This means giving people the skills they need, encouraging enterprise, improving infrastructure and promoting the strengths of the region.
We will use the most effective methods to achieve economic prosperity
It is our duty to find the most effective way to help. Sometimes our strategic leadership is required; often we may need to influence others to deliver agreed goals. We may fund others to do the work or, if we can do it better ourselves, we will.
We are an energetic, open organisation committed to working with others
Whilst we are an accountable public body that must follow proper procedures, we are also a creative team of people dedicated to finding solutions to the region's challenges. We listen and we learn in order to deliver the best possible service.
In summary, we are here to help make sure that an improved economy plays a major part in delivering long term quality of life for the whole region.
